Beijing is full of things to do, and planning your trip around this fascinating country can be challenging to say the least. If you want to see a unique side of Beijing, by for exmple taking a Great Wall tour to see the off beaten tracks of Beijing , or travel independently but do not want to deal with the hassle of planning every small detail on your own, read on for some insider's advice.
Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China,with a history about 800 years of being capital,Yuan,MingandQing Dynaties!For tourists,BeiJing is really reasonable city with so much history to enjoy,Great Wall ,Forbidden City,Summer Palace...It covers 16,807.8 square kilometers. Mountainous areas occupy 10,417.5 square kilometers, accounting for 62% of the city's landmass. The rest, 6390.3 square kilometers or 38% of the total, are flatland. The municipality governs 14 urban districts and 2 rural counties.
Olympic Park in Chaoyang District will be the heart of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It is on the northern end of Beijing's axis and covers 12.15 square kilometres (sq.km). To the north lies the Olympic Forest Park. To the south are: 14 stadiums, Olympic Village, Media Centre, International Radio and TV Centre, National Sports Museum, China International Exhibiton Centre and National Olympic Sports Centre.
   
The Great Wall of China is an immensely long man-made wall that was built to keep out invaders. The Great Wall spans nine provinces and its total length is 6,700 km (3,948 miles). The Great Wall extends from ShanHaiGuan (the 'Old Dragon Head'), a seaport along the coast of BoHai, in the east (near BeiDaiHe resort) to JiaYuGuan Pass in GanSu Province in the west. Like a giant dragon, the Great Wall of China winds its way across grasslands, deserts and mountains.
Hutong,which originally means waterwell according to Mongolia in 11th century.And all the Hutongs in Beijing nowadays were built in Qing dynasty in the central part of the city,eapecially around the Houhai area !so Hutong is the most traditional area and it is the real beijing part!and the best way the explore the Hutong nowadays is by Rickshaw so that we could reach some Hutongs that the cab could not enjoying the real Beijing buildings and local life!
